Xeloda 500mg Tablets contain capecitabine, an oral chemotherapy medication widely used in the treatment of cancers such as breast cancer, colorectal cancer, and gastric (stomach) cancer. It is part of a group of medicines known as antimetabolites, which help slow down or stop the growth of cancer cells in the body.
After ingestion, capecitabine is converted into its active form, 5-fluorouracil (5-FU), primarily within tumor tissues. This targeted conversion allows the drug to interfere with DNA production in cancer cells, ultimately leading to their destruction while reducing impact on healthy cells.
